Welcome!

Welcome to the web site for the Castleton Volunteer Fire Department. This site is designed to both inform the public and keep our members updated on happenings in the department. We hope you enjoy your visit and if you would like any additional information, please contact us.

CVFD is a combined department, meaning that both career personnel and volunteers work together to provide fire, EMS, and rescue services to the community. Lawrence Township is in the northeast corner of Marion County, Indiana. Indianapolis, Indiana and Marion County have a combined city-county government, but fire protection is still delegated out to the township trustees. Lawrence Township also surrounds the City of Lawrence, but the City of Lawrence operates a separate fire department.

Project Lifesaver
Project Lifesaver relies on proven radio technology and a specially trained search and rescue team. Clients that are enrolled in the Project Lifesaver program wear a personalized wristband that emits a tracking signal. When caregivers notify the local Project Lifesaver agency that the person is missing, a search and rescue team responds to the wanderer's area and starts searching with the mobile locater tracking system. Search times have been reduced from hours and days to minutes. In over 1500 searches, there have been no reported serious injuries or deaths. Recovery times average less than 30 minutes. Lawrence, Perry, and Wayne Township Fire Departments provide coverage for the metro area. Contact Joy Lorch at 845-4933 extension 351, for more information.
